Faith Links is an initiative in which congregations and faith-based organizations can partner with other groups to provide assistance, share resources, develop community or regional services, and provide effective assistance during times of crisis.  Faith-based groups are locally focused on the people in their immediate area and have invaluable knowledge of the needs, values, and resources of their community, as well as access to people and assets.  These groups are able to be the true first responders in times of crisis … most knowledgeable of the types of programs that positively influence the spiritual and physical needs of their area, and particularly suited to provide a unifying and coordinated presence and effort to uplift and serve the people of their neighborhood.  Most are more than willing to share their experience and resources but lack an effective way of communicating those resources or needs.  Faith Links offers a way for groups to work together.

Faith Links has its genesis in the work of hundreds of churches and thousands of individuals responding to the unprecedented disaster along the Gulf Coast as a result of Hurricane Katrina.  In an effort to keep congregations informed, offer training, provide distribution sites for human and physical resources during crisis situations, and/or make available avenues of involvement for groups wishing to contribute to response efforts, Faith Links offers an internet community that extends across congregations around the country. 

Faith Links is based on a reciprocal network of individuals and organizations around the United States who have volunteered to share resources, especially during times of crisis. Faith Links is being expanded to include ministry resources, training information, resource exchange, and other services as directed by participants.
