NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD. VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA SOUTHEAST IS SEEKING PUBLIC COMMENT ON ITS APPLICATION FOR NEIGHBORHOOD STABILIZATION PROGRAM 2 (NSP2) FUNDING UNDER THE AMERICAN REINVESTMENT AND RECOVERY ACT (ARRA) OF 2009. VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA SOUTHEAST’S application will target specific areas within high foreclosure census tracts included in this community with $25,000,000 for the following activities in this community: establish financing mechanisms for purchase and redevelopment of foreclosed upon homes and properties; land banking; to purchase and rehabilitate homes and residential properties that have been abandoned or foreclosed upon in order to sell or redevelop such homes and properties; to demolish blighted structures; and to redevelop demolished or vacant properties as housing. The public comment period will begin July 3rd, 2009 and end July 13th, 2009, at the close of business. A written summary will be available for review at the office of Volunteers of America Southeast, Inc., 600 Azalea Road, Mobile, AL 36609 between the hours of 8:00 – 4:30 pm. All comments received will be summarized and included in the final application.
