Urgent need for Hurricane Katrina Volunteers:

Why Should I Volunteer?
Volunteer to cultivate, discover, grant a wish, comfort, nurture, share, enlighten, laugh, and change a life.

Who Can Volunteer?
Anyone who is willing to work with others, offer support, or share personal talents and time can volunteer.

What Can I Do to Help?
Volunteer opportunities are endless. Some examples include reading stories to children, interacting with senior adults and the developmentally disabled, helping organize special events, or assisting crime victims.

Volunteer Opportunities For Groups
Whether your group is a collection of individuals from the office, church, school or neighborhood, we will be happy to put you to work! Groups can be involved in a special project by:
- Providing labor to physically complete a job
- Collecting donations of materials to be used
- Raising necessary funds
- Coordinating the entire project (from funding to finish!)

If your group is interested in an item below or another project you feel would benefit Volunteers of America Southeast, please contact our Director of Volunteer Services.

Special Group Projects
- Facility improvements (general maintenance such as interior/exterior painting)
- Landscaping for facility site improvement
- Picnic or party for Volunteers of America consumers
- Specialized services for supportive housing programs
- Party or special activity day at the Day Training Program in Mobile
- Bricks & mortar building projects

Volunteer Opportunities For Individuals
History has shown that one person can make a difference. If you would like to make a difference in your community, Volunteers of America Southeast invites you to take on one of the challenges below (or any similar contribution you would like to make). 

Individual Projects
- Build a recreation equipment storage box for one of our residential facilities
- Make a lap quilt or pillow for someone in a wheelchair
- Bake cookies for one of our residential homes (6-8 people)
- Build wooden toys that are safe for young children to play with
- Offer your services when needed to help stuff and label envelopes
- Tell us about a special skill or talent you would like to share
- Become a Volunteers of America ambassador and part of our communication network in your community
- Contribute funds to a specific program
- Establish an endowment (we will tell you how easy it is!)
